Cal Freshman Soccer Star Chosen for U.S. National Team

Men's soccer to be represented on the Under-20 National Team.

BERKELEY, Calif. - Cal freshman soccer standout Ramiro Arrendondo learned this week he has been chosen as part of the Under 20 U.S. National Team that will train and compete during the course of the next year.

The elite squad will travel to Orlando, Florida for a training camp February 6 to 15 that will also include several competitions against Major League Soccer teams. Later in the year, the team has international competition in Italy, France, Scotland and England.

Arrendondo, a local product from Redwood City who prepped at Woodside Priory HS, is an up-and-coming player who show ed his potential as a part-time starter as a freshman for Cal last fall. The frosh midfielder scored one goal his freshman s eason, tallying a total of fiv e points. H e played in 17 of Cal's 18 matches last year, including four starting assignments.
