Scott Ryan
Position: Assistant Coach

Scott Ryan was named an assistant coach for Cal in the summer of 2005, and since arriving on the scene in Berkeley, Ryan has been helping the Bears in a big way. His coaching was instrumental in Cal's fourth-place finish at the 2007 NCAA West Regional. He has also helped send five Bears to regionals individually.

Ryan served as the director and head coach at Aztec Gymnastics in San Diego prior to his arrival at Cal. While at Aztec Gymnastics, Ryan led his teams to 33 state and regional championships and national champions in both the United State and Mexico. Also 18 of his gymnasts earned college gymnastics scholarships.

In addition to Ryan's gymnastics teaching, he served as a lecturer at San Diego State, where he taught undergraduate classes in the Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences.

Prior to his experience in San Diego, he served as the head coach and program director at Buckeye Gymnastics in Columbus, Ohio. He additionally occupied the position of event or meet director at the 1999-00 San Diego Winter Classic, 1988-96 Buckeye Classic, 1995 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships and 1985 Atlantic 10 Gymnastics Championships.

Ryan is a graduate of West Virginia, with an undergraduate degree in journalism and a master's of science in sports promotions.
