Will be returning to action after sitting out the 2001 season recovering from diabetes...is one of the Bears' team captains this season...an outstanding player who has a great understanding of water polo...has good size, is a fast swimmer and is an excellent outside shooter.
AS A JUNIOR (2000): Was slowed by diabetes during the later part of the season...scored four goals on the year.
AS A SOPHOMORE (1999): Tallied 16 points, including one, two-point goal...was the Bears leading scorer with three points in a 9-3 victory Nov. 6 at UC Irvine.
AS A FRESHMAN (1998): Scored six goals in his first season at Cal...came off the bench in several matches to provide offensive punch...made the match-winning goal Oct. 11 at Long Beach State, scoring with 1:35 left in the contest.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Foothill High School in Santa Ana, CA was a four-time All-American in both swimming and water polo...was named CIF Southern Section Water Polo Player of the Year in '97...helped lead his squad to four-straight Century League championships, the CIF Southern Section Championship in 1995 and CIF Southern Section runner-up finishes in '96 and '97...is his school's record holder in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.97...was a member of the National Junior Team that traveled to Canada in 1997 and was a member of a National Youth Team that traveled to Canada in '95...brother, Gavin, was an All-American water polo player for the Bears in 1992 and '93 and competed in the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games...majoring in legal studies...parents are Mike and Judy Arroyo...born January 18, 1980 in Orange, CA.
