As a Junior in 2001-02: Smith appeared in 14 games during the season, averaging 1.1 ppg ... top performance came vs. Washington State when he scored six points, including a 4-for-4 outing from the free throw line ... also had four points in a win over Mount St. Mary's and three points against both Saint Louis and at WSU ... played a season-high 13 minutes vs. USC Feb. 23, helping the Bears to an 83-64 victory.

As a Sophomore in 2000-01: Smith played in 27 games for the Bears, all coming off the bench... scored six points against Albany in December and had five points and two assists in a season-high 17 minutes vs. South Florida Jan. 20 ... best game came against UCLA at home with 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-2 3P) and two rebounds in 11 minutes of action ... in back-to-back games against Washington and Washington State in late February, had eight points vs. the Huskies (3-3 FG, 2-2 3P) and seven points vs. the Cougars (3-5 FG, 1-3 3P) ... sat out the March 1 UCLA game with a sore hamstring, but returned to action two days later at USC ... had two points and a pair of assists in Cal's NCAA Tournament game vs. Fresno State.

As a Redshirt-Freshman in 1999-00: Smith started 14 of Cal's 33 games as a freshman ... scored a season-high 19 points (6-7 FG, 5-6 3P, 2-4 FT) against Oregon State Feb. 10 ... also had 15 points at Washington State Feb. 26 ... earned the first of four consecutive starts at Washington Feb. 24 and helped clinch the game by going 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 50 seconds ... averaged 9.6 ppg in seven games from Feb. 10 through March 4, more than three points higher than his season average ... shot 81.0 percent from the free throw line, the third-best rate ever by a Cal freshman ... reached double figures in his first two games with 13 points vs. TCU and 11 more against Houston ... started each of Cal's first six contests at point guard ... after scoring just three points against San Jose State in his first game as a reserve, came back with 16 points in a win over UC Irvine Dec. 18 ... also had 17 points (5-6 FG, 1-1 3P, 6-7 FT) against Davidson Jan. 2.

As a Freshman in 1998-99: Smith enrolled in classes at Cal for the spring 1999 semester, but elected to redshirt to preserve four full seasons of eligibility ... missed most of the practice sessions due to a stress fracture in his lower back, but returned in full health for '99-00.

High School: Smith averaged 28.3 ppg, 6.2 apg and 5.7 rpg as a senior, leading his team to a 24-5 record and the Interscholastic Athletic Association title ... had a high of 44 points, making 11 three-pointers, in one game ... rated the No. 52 overall recruit by Bob Gibbons' All-Star Sports and ranked as the No. 21 point guard by The Sporting News ... also listed as one of the Top 50 players in the country by the McDonald's All-America committee and participated in the prestigious Capital Classic All-Star Game ... graduated as Anacostia's all-time leading scorer ... in addition to his Washington, D.C., Player of the Year honor in '98, was a second team All-Metro Washington choice as a junior ... member of his high school's Honors Society.
