Hughes is a mobile big man who runs the court extremely well and is an active player under the basket ... showed considerable improvement last year and coaches expect similar progress this season ... led the Pac-10 in field goal shooting as a junior (62.9%) - third best in Cal history ... his career field goal rate of 57.3 percent ranks second on the school's all-time list ... has increased his field goal shooting percentage every year ... also an intimidating shot blocker with 91 blocks to his credit and should take over the No. 2 slot at Cal by the end of his career ... has worked hard on building his strength and stamina and has gained 10 pounds since the end of last season ...
