Was drafted in the first round (31st pick overall, fourth highest draft pick in Cal baseball history) by the Chicago Cubs in the 2009 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft...an outstanding left-handed hitting center fielder who was All-Pac-10 as a junior and honorable mention All-Pac-10 as a sophomore...was named a 2009 first-team preseason All-American by Baseball America and was on the Golden Spikes Award Watch List...is Cal's first, first-team preseason All-America selection since outfielder Brennan Boesch in 2006...is tied for fourth on Cal's career triple list (11) and is tied for fifth on the Bears' single-season triple list (six in 2009)...a talented fielder with a strong arm and above average speed...this past summer was selected the eighth-best prospect out of the Cape Cod League by Baseball America (.238, six doubles, four home runs, 14 RBI, eight stolen bases), playing for the Cotuit Kettleers...

AS A SOPHOMORE (2008): Batted .307 (62-for-202, .302 vs. Pac-10) with seven doubles, four triples (4th in Pac-10), four home runs and 40 RBI...led the team with 12 stolen bases (8th in Pac-10)...had a double and two-run homer May 13 at UC Davis...hit a grand slam versus Arizona May 2 and had a two-run homer and three RBI May 6 versus UC Davis...was 4-for-10 with two RBI at Arizona State April 25-27...hit a triple with two RBI at Pacific April 15...went 6-for-12 with two doubles and two RBI at USC April 11-13...had a triple versus Stanford April 7 and was 3-for-4 with two RBI versus Santa Clara April 9...went 4-for-9 with three RBI versus Oregon State April 4-5...was 3-for-4 with two triples, two RBI and first collegiate home run Feb. 23 versus Utah Valley...hit .333 (23-for-69) with runners in scoring position...was honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic.

AS A FRESHMAN (2007): Batted .230 (14-for-61, .269 vs. the Pac-10) with a double, a triple and three RBI...had 19 starts in center field and one start in left field...had a double and RBI versus USC May 19...went 2-for-3 at San Francisco May 1 and was 2-for-4 versus Arizona State Apr. 27.

HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Miramonte High School was a 2005 All-CIF shortstop, batting .385 with seven doubles, six triples, four home runs and 34 RBI...was a two-time first-team All-DFAL selection, leading his school to two-straight North Coast Section titles...was also a two-time Puma Preseason All-American, selected one of Team One Baseball's Top 10 West players, and was a member of the Bay Area World Series All-Tournament team...majoring in sociology...several relatives attended Cal, including father, Peter, who competed for the men's soccer team...parents are Peter and Katie Jackson...born August 2, 1988 in Berkeley, Calif.
