Player Profile

One of Cal's top pitchers in its baseball history...earned All-America honors in 1957 helping lead the Golden Bears to the NCAA team title...a first team District 8 selection in 1955 and '57 and still his amazing 31 career wins and 275 career strikeouts solidified his position in the top Cal record standings...also ranked in Cal history with 344.7 innings pitched and ended his career with a 31-12 (.721) record...Weiss set season marks in 1957 with complete games at 12 (tied), wins at 14 and innings pitched at 149...earned Cal's Clint Evans Award for the Most Valuable Player in 1957 and served as an assistant coach at Cal in 1961.
