No. 12 Arizona State Completes Sweep of Cal

TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 12 Arizona State (30-17, 15-12) defeated California (17-30, 3-21) 8-4 in front of 2,729 fans at Packard Stadium Sunday afternoon. The win was the Sun Devils eight straight conference victory.

The Sun Devils broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning with four runs. Dan McKinley's two-run home run was the highlight of the inning. Willie Bloomquist's RBI single scored Andrew Beinbrink, making the score 7-3.

Jeff Cermak went the distance for the Sun Devils, capping off the day by striking out the side in the ninth. Cermak finished with five strikeouts, while surrendering only six hits. Brad Steele (2-4) picked up the loss for California.

Greg Halvorson led the Sun Devils offensive attack, hitting his seventh and eighth home runs of the season. McKinley finished with three hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Michael Collins and Beinbrink each finished with two hits.

Ivan Lewis led California with two hits and a run scored.
