Hotchkiss Wightman was the first and only woman to ever win the United States national singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships in one year (1909) and then go on to make that a three-year record by repeating it in 1910 and '11...also she won singles again in 1919, the doubles in 1915, '18 and '20...between the years 1919 and 1943 she won a combined total of 17 singles, doubles and mixed doubles United States Indoor Championships...in 1923, she inaugurated the Wightman Cup championships between British and American women and was a playing member on the teams in 1923, '24, '27, '29 and '31...in 1924, she won the doubles at Wimbledon and the Olympic gold medal in doubles and mixed doubles in Paris...between 1948 and 1954, she won 11 United States Grasscourt Senior Doubles Championship...in 1957 she was elected to the National Lawn Tennis Hall of Fame.
