At Acalanes High School was first-team all-league and first-team All-North Coast Section in 2006

Finished high school career with 87 goals and competed in the 2007 North Coast Section-Central Coast Section All-Star Game

Was a member of the Lamorinda Club Team that placed second in the 2006 Pan Pacific Games in New Zealand

Majoring in economics

Has several relatives (both parents) who attended Cal and competed in athletics, including father, John, who played water polo from 1977-80, and uncle, Peter, who was Cal's first water polo NCAA Player of the Year in 1973

Cousin, Charles Steffens, is also a senior on the 2010 Cal men's water polo team
