Piatt has yet to see any action during his first two seasons at Cal but did emerge as one of the team’s top safeties during 2014 spring practices after moving to the position midway through his 2013 redshirt freshman campaign. He began his career as a wide receiver but suffered a season-ending injury during his first spring practice in 2013 that kept him out the entire spring and into the 2013 season. He was moved to safety shortly after his return to action.
