Wilfley played in a combined 23 of 24 possible games at Cal and made one start during the 2012 and 2014 seasons while redshirting in 2013. He saw action at three different positions as well as on special teams during his career, picking up six tackles and one quarterback hurry all as a 2014 senior. Wilfley started his Cal career as a tight end and special teams player in 2012. He moved to defensive tackle during his 2013 redshirt season and 2014 spring sessions before moving to defense end for the 2014 campaign. Wilfley, who was 24 years old as a senior, spent two years on a Mormon mission during the 2010 and 2011 football seasons after playing two previous campaigns at American River College, where he was an All-Mid-Empire Conference selection as a 2009 sophomore.
