BUDAPEST - California junior Sara Isakovic swam for her native Slovenia in four events at the recently completed European Championships in Hungary. The product of Bled, Slovenia, reached the 100- and 200-meter butterfly semifinal rounds but did not advance to either final in the international meet, which ran from Aug. 4-15. Isakovic, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the 200-meter freestyle, also competed at the European Championships as part of Slovenia's 4x200-meter freestyle relay and 4x100-meter medley relay.
In the 100 fly, Isakovic posted a time of 59.08 to place ninth and miss the final, which included the top eight swimmers. She had clocked a time of 59.19 in the 100-fly heats.
Isakovic swam the 200 fly on Aug. 14, recording a time of 2:11.07 to take 13th place, after posting a time of 2:10.71 in the heats.
She led off her nation's seventh-place 4x200-free relay in the final, with Slovenia posting a time of 8:06.13 on Aug. 12. Isakovic swam the third leg of the medley relay in the Aug. 15 heats, with Slovenia clocking a time of 4:11.04 to take 12th. Slovenia's medley relay did not reach the final.
