BERKELEY-- - The University of California women's swimming program has signed two top prep swimmers, Annie Babicz and Erin Reilly, to National Letters of Intent, it was announced today by Golden Bear head coach Teri McKeever.

Babicz, from Sarasota, Fla., was the No. 1 ranked breaststroker as a junior. Babicz attends Pineview High School and also competes for the Sarasota YMCA Swim Club, coached by Michael Stewart. Babicz, will compete for Cal in the breaststroke, butterfly and IM events, and has personal best times of 1:01.98 in the 100 breast, 55.38 in the 100 fly and 2:04.00 in the 200 IM.

Reilly, from Sacramento, Calif., attends Rio Americano High School and also competes for the Sierra Marlins Swim Club, coached by Jeff Pearson. Reilly is a distance freestyler and butterflyer who should provide versatility to the Bears' program next season. Reilly's top times include 4:50.49 in the 500 free, 9:55.04 in the 1000 free, 16:22.51 in the 1650 free, 54.87 in the 100 fly and 1:59.91 in the 200 fly.

"Not only is Annie the best breaststroker in the country, she is a good student as well," assistant coach Adam Crossen said. "She is a great person who will definitely make her mark, both in and outside of the pool, at Cal. Erin is a great all-around swimmer who thrives in both the distance free and butterfly events. To top it all off, she is a person who will bring much enthusiasm and excitement to Cal Swimming."
