With the start of the 2010-11 California men's basketball season just a week away, will feature video Q&As on all of the new Golden Bears in the weeks leading up to the start of the season.

Gary Franklin was one of the most sought after players in the West. He is a gifted shooter with a really quick release. Franklin was ranked the 66th recruit in the nation by ESPN, and ranked No. 14 by ESPN, No. 16 by and No. 18 by among point guards.

Last year at Mater Dei High School, Franklin was named the CIF Player of the Year and made the All-CIF first team as a junior. He averaged 17.4 ppg, 4.0 apg and 4.0 rpg, and had his jersey retired at Mater Dei High School. Franklin led Mater Dei to a 32-2 record and a CIF title last year

"Gary is a very talented scorer with a knack for finding a way to get shots, and he has great range," head coach Mike Montgomery said. "We know he can play the off guard and we'll give him the opportunity to play some point guard, as well. He will be a player that we count on in his freshman year."
