Bears to Face New Mexico in Elite Eight

BERKELEY - The seventh-seeded California Golden Bears men's soccer team will face the second-seeded University of New Mexico Lobos in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, Friday Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. (M.S.T.) at the UNM Soccer Complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Cal is advancing to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history, after defeating Wake Forest, 3-2, in double overtime Saturday afternoon at Edwards Stadium in front of a record crowd of 4,207. New Mexico, which is also advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in school history, defeated Cal State Northridge, 1-0, in overtime Saturday night at home.

Cal is currently 14-3-3 overall, while the Lobos are 16-1-3 for the year.
