The No 1 Cal men's varsity eight won its opening round heat at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships in Cherry Hill, NJ, May 30. Other heat winners included No. 2 Washington, No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 5 Northeastern. These four crews will be joined in the semifinals by the top two finishers in each of the late afternoon varsity repechage round of racing.
