No. 1 Bears Defeat No. 16 Stanford at Big Row

The No. 1 ranked Cal men's varsity eight defeated No. 16 Stanford by 16 seconds in dual racing at Redwood Shores, April 13. In dead calm conditions, the Bears led from start to finish in the varsity race and came within three seconds of the course record 5:36.90-a mark Cal set in 2000. For the record it was the varsity's 12 straight victory over the Cardinal in dual racing.

The Cal JV, freshman and third varsity eights also notched victories over their cross bay rivals. The JVs and the 3Vs finished first and second itn the JV event while the Cal frosh defeated Stanford by nearly two-lengths of open water.

Next week, Cal hosts a dual meets versus No. 8 Oregon State on April 20 at 9 a.m. followed by No. 6 Wisconsin on April 21 also at 9 a.m.
