Courtesy: Cal Athletics
Release:  02/25/2008

Feb. 25, 2008

Berkeley - Regarded as one of the best innovators, educators and mentors in women's swimming, head coach Teri McKeever has her No. 8-ranked Golden Bears prepared for success at the Pac-10 Championships, Feb. 27-Mar. 1 in Long Beach at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. McKeever will certainly rely on the veteran leadership of junior Dana Vollmer - a world class swimmer who has been red hot in dual meet competition down the stretch of the season; Emily Silver - the senior co-captain who has dominated the freestyle events all season long; and Lauren Rogers - the junior who has maintained total control of the backstroke events all season for the Bears, including a gold medal finish in the 50 back at the Victorian State Championships in January. This year's Cal team has an excellent balance of leadership, desire and drive to bring home a Pac-10 title to Berkeley.
