Women's Tennis Player, Kurimay, Tabbed as ITA National Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - California's Anita Kurimay was selected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as its National Player of the Month for November, the ITA announced Friday.
Kurimay captured the singles title at the Nov. 5-8 ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Stanford, earning an automatic berth in the ITA National Indoor Tournament, which will take place Feb. 4-7 in Dallas, Texas.
A sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, Kurimay posted a perfect 6-0 mark during the month of November, including wins over Top-50 ranked players Marissa Irvin of Stanford and Cal teammate Karoline Borgersen.
So far this season, Kurimay's overall record is a stellar 11-3. Kurimay is expected to play in the No. 2 this spring for the Golden Bears.
The nation's No. 6 ranked team in the ITA preseason poll, Cal opens its 1999 dual match schedule on Friday, Jan. 22, against Fresno State. The match will be contested at the Hellman Tennis Center on the Cal campus beginning at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.
