BERKELEY - The California Golden Bears women's basketball team will use their final two home games of the season to help raise money for the Seeds Organization, a charity that benefits orphanages in Africa.

On Thursday, March 5, the Bears will be donning specially designed shooting shirts during their warmups for the Arizona State game. The girls took their off day on Monday, March 2 to design these one-of-a-kind uniforms with each player creating her own very unique shirt. Head coach Joanne Boyle and assistant coaches Jennifer Hoover and Charmin Smith also created personal designs for the auction.

The shirts will be available for bid in a silent auction on Saturday, March 7 through the end of halftime of the final game of the year against Arizona.

The intent of the auction is to help raise funds for orphanges in Africa like the ones visited by the team last summer on their trip to the continent. Starting bids for the shirts will be $100 with $10 bid increments allowed during the silent auction.

If you would like to bid on a shirt but will not be attending the game on Saturday, Angela Niles will be accepting silent pre-bids by phone through 4 p.m. on Friday, March 6. To make a bid or to make a donation to this worthy cause, please contact Angela at 510-642-9448 or email her at aniles@berkeley.edu.
