Below are some of the thoughts of the Cal seniors as the make their final appearance in the Blue and Gold.

With defense we tried to re-impress this football program with a sense of passion and integrity. Something it had lost in the past few decades. For the most part we were successful. We re-lit the torch our forefathers fought so valiantly to create. Though we did not win a Rose Bowl, or even come close for that matter, we put our guts on the line for each other. I'd like to thank Sekou, Pete, Nacho, Wesley, Mookie, and a special note for Nate Gelderman and his family. You have made my time here bearable with your love and your humor. To Todd, Lyle, Harry, Cynthia and Dennis, thank you for your tutelage, loyalty and love.-Matt Beck

I'd like to thank my biggest fans, my mom and dad. Thanks for going to every game and for always supporting me. There are no words to describe my love for you. I love you both with all my heart. Carlos, the only man I call my brother, thanks for always cheering me on in everything. I will never forget the friends that I made as a student as well as a football player. Lastly, I'd like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for always guiding me through tough times and for allowing me to have the opportunity I had at Cal. I'd like to thank the Lord for two wonderful parents who have poured their lives into me.-Ignacio Brache

I would like to thank those who have supported me during my time here at Cal. Especially my mother and father and those who I've played with. I wish the program the best of luck in the future. Go Bears!-Wesley Dalton

I first want to thank my family for supporting me, and being there for me though the good and bad times. I want to thank my teammates for making my career here enjoyable, and lastly I would like to show my appreciation to the coaches, staff, alumni, and the fans for their support throughout my career. Go Bears!- Jerry DeLoach

Thank you dad for all of your words of wisdom throughout the years. I can't thank you enough for all the love and support. Others who were very instrumental, my girlfriend Lisa, friends and relatives Debby, Dale, the Robinson's, the Oliver's, and especially my grandma Clare. Last but not least, the students, fans, and my fellow "Hit Squad."-Pete Destefano

Cal football, what can I say? Through ups and downs I'll always remember the rowdy student section always cheering to the end. The best friends that I could have are on this team. I will consider them family for life. Thanks to Cal and this program for five memorable years. Best of luck to the coaches and players in the future. Never quit fighting, Go Bears!-Kevin Doherty

I sweat immensely. My adrenaline travels at a rapid rate causing inflammation to my heart. My bosom burns with desire and passion as I wait for the knock of opportunity. Patience is truly a virtue as the time and diligent efforts are finally put to application. I run with fervor and determination down the gridiron hunting the opponent, for it took a year filled with conditioning, hitting and mental preparation, to run down 50 yards, deliver a hit, and recover a fumble. My first play in Memorial Stadium as a Cal Bear. First I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our heavenly father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. To my life and love, the whol Fa'avae family, my guiding angle Big Lomz, my heart Reena and Sunky, and my origin, the I-Block family. My eldest brother who has sacrificed his life so my brothers and sisters can live, Jachee you live through me and Lome as your memory will be honored with success from our accomplishments. Lastly, to the potential '95 league playa's and all those that came and gone: I ain't mad at ya, got nothing but love for ya, do yo thing boy! CEE-A-EL, What! What! Long live double vae!-Fa'avae Fa'avae

First, I'd like to thank and praise God from whom all blessings flow. The love of my life, my Granny, I hope I've made you proud. To Kev, I could never thank you enough, but I've almost begun (3/97 ?). To Mo, thank you for all of the encouragement and blind faith three years ago. To my brother "Teeth" I'm watching you do it. Keep leading. To the Brownstones, Pop, Pot, Linda, Queen Mo, Mama Elma (bless your soul). You make it easy to strive to be a good man.-Drae Harris

I'd like to thank my biggest fans, my mom and family, Dyneshia and city of Watts. Thanks for going to every game from Pop Warner all the way to my collegiate level and always supporting me. There are no words to describe my love. Special thanks to my brothers for being father for me. Lastly, I'd like to thank Cal students and fans.-Damian Marzett

I would first like to thank my parents Carolyn and Greg Miller, they are the sole supporters in my life. Not only with the game of football, but the game of life. To my brother and sister who each live their own life, I wish the best of luck and thank for their support. To the coaches from 1997-99, I thank and will always remember them, as I can only hope I have made half the impact on them that they have made on my life. Lastly, I will soon be just a great fan of the Cal Bears, one of many who have supported me over the years. Thank you from-Keith Miller/53

It's been real. It's been fun! It's hasn't been real fun! Thanks to my mom and my brother Theo, my No. 1 fan. I made it! All the love.-Jeremiah Parker

Without God, all of my family, and friends, none of my success would be possible. It truly has been a dream come true to play here in front of you all. Keep me in your hearts as I move on. I'll miss you. Go Bears!-Sekou Sanyika

I thank my Lord, family, children and girlfriend for loving and supporting me. I thank my teammates for playing hard with me. I would like to thank my coaches for showing me what it takes to be a great player. I thank the fans for showing their support to us. I hope that I have left a positive impression on Cal. I will always remember the things I experienced at Cal and plan on using my experiences later on. I hope the team does well next year. Go Bears.-Mawuko Tugbenyoh Through long training camps, six unbelievable O-line Christmas parties, five painful surgeries, four awesome art exhibits, three head coaches, two rewarding bowl games, and one prestigious undergraduate degree, Cal has taught me that my most important memory is and will continue to be-- RIGHT NOW!!!-Yauger Williams
