MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - California senior Laura Sanford put together an outstanding afternoon to post a fifth-place finish in the platform final on Saturday at the last day of the NCAA Zone E Championships at the Minnesota Aquatics Center. Freshman Kahley Rowell likewise starred on the platform to place eighth in the final. No Bears wound up qualifying for the upcoming NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships through the zonal diving competition.
Sanford posted a total score of 482.35 and Rowell notched a score of 449.00 on the platform.
Over the course of the three-day meet, Cal produced four finalists, including sophomore Kelsey Heiken taking eighth place on the three-meter springboard on March 10 and junior Molly Hayes placing eighth on the one-meter springboard on March 11.
This ends the season for the Cal divers. Thirteen Cal swimmers will take part in the NCAA Championships from March 17-19 in Austin, Texas.
