BERKELEY - Senior guard Patrick Christopher has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for Dec. 7-13, as announced today by the Pacific-10 Conference.
A native of Compton, Calif., Christopher led the Golden Bears to a 79-54 victory over Pacific on Dec. 9 after scoring 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, notching his second-straight double-double. Against the Tigers, he opened the contest going 5-for-5 from the field, en route to 8-for-12 (.667) for the game. His 20-point outing was his third this season and the 23rd of his career.
In addition, Christopher climbed the Cal history charts, moving past David Butler for 15th on the all-time scoring list with 1,294 points and cracked the top 10 for career three-pointers made with 123.
For the season, Christopher ranks seventh in the conference in scoring (15.6 points per game) and ninth in three-pointers made with 17 (1.89 per contest). He ranks third on the team in rebounding, hauling down 5.6 boards per outing.
This is the third weekly honor for Christopher and California's 42nd all-time Player of the Week.
