KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former Cal offensive lineman Justin Cheadle has agreed to terms on an undrafted free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Cheadle played in 47 games with 35 starts at Cal from 2008-11, starting 21 consecutive games at right guard at one point in his career. Cheadle was a two-time winner of the team's Bob Tessier Award as its Most Improved Lineman.

Cheadle started all 13 games and earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 recognition from the coaches as a senior, when he was also a second-team all-conference choice according to Yahoo! Sports and a third-team pick College Sports Madness. In addition, Cheadle was selected to the ESPN.com Pac-12 Blog's All-Underrated squad. He was also named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention for the second consecutive season. In addition to winning the Bob Tessier Award for the second time, he was also the team's Senior Lifter of the Year.

As a junior, he played in all 12 games with eight starts. He was named to Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention for the first time and was a second-team All-Pac-10 midseason choice of Phil Steele.

Cheadle started 13 games as a sophomore and won the first of his two Bob Tessier Award as the Most Improved Offensive Lineman on the team.

He appeared in nine games, including his first career start as a redshirt freshman. Six former Cal players were selected in the 2012 draft that concluded Saturday including second-round picks in offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz (Cleveland Browns - No. 37 overall) and linebacker Mychal Kendricks (Philadelphia Eagles - No. 46 overall), third-round punter Bryan Anger (Jacksonville Jaguars - No. 70 overall), fifth-round wide receiver Marvin Jones (Cincinnati Bengals - No. 166 overall), and seventh round defensive back D.J. Campbell (Carolina Panthers - No. 216 overall) and defensive lineman Trevor Guyton (Minnesota Vikings, No. 219 overall).

Cheadle is the second former Cal player to agree to terms on an undrafted free agent contract with an NFL team in 2012. Tight end Anthony Miller has also agreed to terms with the Denver Broncos.

Additional announcements of former Cal players agreeing to terms on undrafted free agent contracts are expected soon but will not be made until official announcements by the NFL team.
