PRINCETON, N.J. - Led by redshirt freshman Thomas Agramonte's four goals, and two goals apiece from senior Marin Balarin and juniors Collin Smith and Perry Short, the No. 3-ranked Cal men's water polo team defeated Harvard, 13-7, Saturday night (Sept. 8) to improve to 4-0 at the Princeton Invitational.
Short, from Cottesloe, Australia, also paced the Golden Bears with four steals against Harvard, while true freshman Max Schell had four ejections earned and junior goalie Michael Boggan finished with eight saves.
Earlier Saturday morning, senior captain Balarin led the Golden Bears with four goals and Smith and Agramonte had three goals apiece as Cal had yet another dominating performance in a 20-3 victory over Bucknell during the second day of the Princeton Invite. The Bears tallied 10 goals in the third period.
Cal's other team captain, senior goalie Justin Parsons, was also impressive with 12 saves in three periods against Bucknell. Senior Mason Cox and freshman Colin Mulcahy added three assists apiece and junior Tommy Gilfillan had a team-high three steals
In all, Cal has now outscored its opponents, 65-17, in 2012 after defeating No. 20 St. Francis (16-3) and No. 13 Princeton (16-4), on Friday. The Bears' Friday victory over the Princeton Tigers was shown live on ESPNU.
Cal concludes its eastern trip with a 9:45 a.m. (ET) match Sunday versus MIT.
