Cal Men's Golf in 14th Place After Second Round of John Burns Intercollegiate

WAHIAWA, OAHU - The Cal men's golf team, again paced by freshman George Gandranata, who shot a 70 on Thursday, has moved up one spot to 14th place after the second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate at the Leilehua Golf Course in Wahiawa, Oahu. The Golden Bears had a six-under-par second round score of 282 to sit at five-under for the tournament (289, 282 - 571, - 5).

Brigham Young and Auburn are tied for the tournament lead after day two of the 54-hole tournament, 72-par course, shooting 29-under-par 547's. They are followed by SMU (-26), Arizona, San Diego State and Colorado State (-22). Individually, Jay Moseley of Auburn (66, 66 - 132, -12) has taken the lead, followed by teammate Glenn Northcut (69, 65 - 134, -10) and Colorado State's Zen Brown (67, 67 - 134, -10).

Gandranata is in 18th place with a six-under 138 (68, 70). Other Bear finishers include junior Michael Wilson with a three-under 141 (72, 69), freshmen Romain Payet (73, 74) and Larry Wong (78, 69) with three-over 147's, and sophomore Freddy Wolfe with plus-10 154 (76, 78).
