The fourth-ranked California men's gymnastics team (2-1) dominated visiting No. 17 Air Force (1-5) Sunday afternoon at Haas Pavilion, 213.850-199.450, while club team UC Santa Barbara scored a team total 194.000. The Golden Bears took first place in each of the six apparatus', setting a total of eight individual career bests.
The Bears were led by junior David Eaton, taking first place in the all-around with a career best 54.250, surpassing his former 54.100 mark. A native of Great Britain, Eaton set three additional career bests in the meet, resulting in a first place finish in the pommel horse (9.600) and high bar (9.650) and second place on the still rings (9.200). The All-American's horse and h-bar scores were also team season bests.
Eight-time All-American Cody Moore claimed second place in the all-around (51.875). Moore, last week's MPSF and Inside Gymnasts Magazine Gymnast of the Week, set season bests on the rings (8.850) and high bar (9.450).
Cal improved its season best on the rings, carding a 35.400 from its previous 34.825. Senior co-captain Aaron Floyd took first in the rings (9.200) while Air Force's Aaron Jackson followed with 9.000.
Sophomore standout Graham Ackerman tallied three first place finishes highlighted by a career and team season best on the vault (9.500). In addition, the All-American claimed first on the floor (9.500) and p-bars (8.750).
Four-time All-American and two-time h-bar national champion, Michael Ashe, set a personal season best on the rings (8.700) and finished second on the horse (9.150).
Jackson led the Falcons with a third-place finish in the all-around (51.625) trailed by UCSB's Donald Mahr (50.100).
Next up, the Bears travel to Stanford to compete against Michigan, Nebraska and the Cardinal, Saturday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m.
