COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - California Golden Bears Alexis Gray-Lawson, Devanei Hampton and Ashley Walker talk about becoming finalists for the 2006 USA FIBA Americas U20 Championship Team.

Alexis Gray-Lawson
What did you do well at trials?
"I think talking, playing defense. Usually when you're at your college, I'm always scoring and doing different things, but when I was out here it was easier for me to just be calm and be the other side of a leader."

What are you most looking forward to?
"Getting to know my teammates. I mean, I know half of them right now, and soon I'll know the rest. I can't wait. I really can't. The traveling is going to be great, and coming back for training camp, but just meeting other people is a big one."

What do you think you bring to the team?
"I think heart. I feel like you can endure anything if you just put your mind to it. I think I can bring a lot of heart to the team."

What does it mean to have two other California players among the 18 selected?
"It feels good having Ashley and Devanei there to support you. And then you got your coach as an assistant. It makes you feel a little bit more comfortable. You feel at home. When you come here by yourself, it's kind of crazy."

Devanei Hampton
Were you nervous this morning when they got together to read who had been selected?
"When they announced my name, I was excited, but before, I really didn't get nervous. I knew if I made it or didn't make it I had tried my hardest."

What did you try and focus on during these Trials?
"Everything, everything that they had told us they were looking for, so I tried my best to live up to what they expected."

What attributes will you bring to this team?
"I hustle, and I'm a great rebounder, so I hope to bring that. I can score. I'm not looking too much to score in this opportunity, but I'm also a good passer."

You also have two of your Cal teammates joining you among the finalists. That has to feel good?
"Yeah, my best friend in Ashley (Walker) made it, so I'm extremely happy, and I won't be by myself."

When you get back to campus will you train together?
"Yeah, of course!"

Ashley Walker
Were you nervous this morning when they got together to read who had been selected?
"Yeah, I was nervous definitely because I was on the bubble getting here. Someone declined, and so I got in (into the Trials), so I was really nervous. I was nervous the whole time I was here."

What did you try and focus on during these Trials?
"My goal was to be myself, just show what I can do, just do all the little things and basically be the utility player because I was on the wing, I was a four, I was guarding the 5s, so just do whatever they wanted and just do it well."

You have two of your Cal teammates joining you among the 18 finalists. That has to feel good?
"Yeah, it's fun. At least, you have someone you already know, and we already have history playing together. So I'll know what Dev's (Devanei Hampton) going to do on the court, and I'll know what Lexi's (Alexis Gray-Lawson) going to do on the court already."

What will you do between now and the start of the team's training?
"Well, because I wasn't originally coming (to Trials), I was signed to be in the last session in summer school, but now my coach will call tomorrow to see if I can switch, so I can get into summer school early and get it over with. I'll keep working on my game."
