"It was nice to get this one out of the way. It didn't feel so big. I think we struggled at times, just with the flow of the game. We put them on the free throw line a little too much. I was really happy with our defensive energy to start the second half. I loved that we were able to get out in transition and score some buckets. I thought our defense did a good job of limiting them, forcing tough shots, holding them in the 50's. But as a coach, you always want to be a little better."
"Brittany is special. What we have been talking to her about is really being a team leader and having that court presence at all times not just in spurts. I thought she did a great job of that tonight. Her defense was lockdown. It was a key for us in transition. It was great to have Brittany in that kind of form tonight."
"Reshanda was in foul trouble in the first half, so that limited her minutes. Then Justine picked up a couple of quick ones in the second half. Then Gray had a great performance in the second half. We rely on that depth. Glad that no one played more than 25 minutes on the whole. It will keep us fresh for tomorrow. Texas is so big, we are going to need all four of them."
On taking on Texas tomorrow
"We say tomorrow, but it is 16 hours from now. It is quite a turnaround. It's 7:30 here and then we play at noon. The first thing is getting our players in the ice baths. Getting some food in them. Getting them rested. Texas is really, really big. We think we are pretty big, but their post players are bigger, so we want to play up and down. We want to play at our pace, offensively, but still be able to execute when the time and place calls for it. More than anything, we need to defend our actions. They run a ton of things. We can't let them get any easy looks. We need to limit their transition and force them into tough shots."
