MADISON, Wis. - After two impressive wins over BYU and Texas A&M, No. 3 Cal's dreams of an ITA Indoor National title were haulted by No. 2 Georgia, 4-1.
This match-up of highly ranked teams was highlighted by the action on court No. 1 between No. 1 player in the nation Agata Cioroch of Georgia and the country's No. 2 player, Cal's Raquel Kops-Jones.
The anticipation was thick for the battle between the two Goliaths of the tennis world, but the potential great moment was left unfulfilled, as the match ended midway through the second set due to injury.
Despite an overall disappointing day for the Bears, senior Catherine Lynch picked up her 12th win of the season, tying Kops-Jones for the team lead in that department.
The Bears now move on to play five straight home matches, starting with UNLV next Saturday.
