BERKELEY - California alumna Betsy Hassett in Germany.
"It's an honor playing for Liverpool," said Omarsdottir, who played at Cal from 2008-10.
What advice would Omarsdottir give to an aspiring professional player who is currently in the college ranks?
"Be yourself, do your best, and respect and listen to other people's opinions," she said.
Omardsottir competed in the Women's Premier Soccer League with the Orange County Waves in 2011, in between seasons playing for Kristianstads DFF in Sweden in 2010 and 2012. She is a veteran of the Iceland National Team and faced Morgan in the recent Algarve Cup, as both started in the United States' 3-0 victory over Iceland in the tournament opener.
"I've played against Alex on the international level before, and it's always fun to play someone you know," Omarsdottir said. "I haven't played against other Bears, but I'm hoping to play Betsy Hassett at some point in my career."
The Icelandic midfielder played alongside both Morgan and Hassett at Cal.
Morgan led the U.S. to the Algarve Cup title by scoring twice in a 2-0 win over Germany in the March 13 final in Faro, Portugal.
A Cal star from 2007-10, Morgan now plays club ball for the Portland Thorns FC in the National Women's Soccer League. Yokers, who played at Cal from 2000-03, will play for the NWSL's Western New York Flash. Hassett, who played for Cal from 2009-12, has signed with SC Sand, which plays in the German Second Division or Bundesliga 2.
