BERKELEY, Calif. -
Former Cal women's golf star Sophia Sheridan was featured this week on the Duramed Futures tour website, Feature on Sophia Sheridan, in an article by Lisa D. Mickey as one of the up and coming players in women's golf. Sheridan has made her third season on the pro circuit her best yet. Though she has not yet won a tournament, she finished ninth on the Duramed Futures Tour money list, which has guaranteed her a spot on the LPGA Tour next season.
While a Golden Bear from 2003-2006, Sheridan was one Cal's all-time top golfers, earning honorable mention All-American honors her sophomore and senior year, and All Pac-10 honors all four years while at Cal. She helped to lead the Bears to three straight top five NCAA finishes from 2004-2006. Sheridan also holds the school records for 54 holes (205) and in relation to par (-8). After graduating in 2006, Sheridan turned professional, and has been bouncing back and forth between the Duramed Futures Tour and the LPGA tour. She hopes to turn this season's last event, the Duramed Invitational in Brazelton, Ga., on Oct 17-19 into her first tour victory.
The Duramed Futures Tour is the developmental tour for the LPGA. Tournaments run from March to October annually.
