When Cal football, or any other league team, is not selected for a Pac-10 telecast on ABC, TBS or Fox Sports Net, a waiver must be requested through the Pac-10 Conference office to show the game locally during the window in which another conference game is being televised. These waivers are rarely granted.

For this Saturday, TV selections were announced Sept. 18, with games scheduled to be shown at 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on the 30th -- meaning there are no available open windows. For the Cal-Oregon State game in Corvallis, it was not necessary to request a waiver because it was not viable for our local carrier to produce and clear the telecast, particularly with tight time constraints.
