Vollmer Wins 3 Titles at Indy Grand Prix

INDIANAPOLIS - California alumna Dana Vollmer captured three gold medals at the Indianapolis Grand Prix held March 3-5 at the Indiana University Natatorium held on the campus of IUPUI. The 2009 NCAA Swimmer of the Year, Vollmer captured the 50-meter freestyle, the 100-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly at the long-course meet. Former Golden Bears Madison Kennedy and Lauren Boyle also competed in Indianapolis.

Vollmer posted the following times in her victories: 25:09 in the 50 free, 54.36 in the 100 free and 57.66 in the 100 fly. She also took seventh place (2:01.55) in the 200 free.

Kennedy placed fifth in the 50 free with a time of 25.67 and took 10th in the 100 free with a time of 56.46. Boyle, a middle-distance and distance star who completed her Cal career last season, notched fifth place in both the 400 free (4:14.00) and 800 free (4:43.79), while she finished 10th in the 200 free (2:01.98).
