BERKELEY - The Golden Bears (15-4, 5-1 Pac-12) hit the road for the Pacific Northwest to face Washington and Washington State with first place in the Pac-12 on the line. Cal has dominated its home court, but has won just once in a true road game, this season; a 77-60 victory at Oregon on Jan. 8. At 5-1, the Bears are off to their best conference start since 2002-03 when that squad started league play with a 7-0 record. Cal can match its longest winning streak of the season and snap a three-game winning streak by the Huskies with a victory on Thursday.

The Bears are coming off an impressive 81-45 victory over Utah that saw several players achieve career marks. Sophomore G Justin Cobbs recorded his first-career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 11 assists while sophomore G Emerson Murray came off the bench to score 10 points and five rebounds. Senior F Harper Kamp has been a major contributor in the Bears' last two victories. He puts up 9.4 ppg and 5.1 rpg, this season, while senior G Jorge Gutierrez continues to add 14.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg.

GAME RECAP (UTAH): Sophomore G Justin Cobbs recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 11 assists to help the Golden Bears to an 81-45 win over Utah. It was the third time this season that a Cal player registered a double-double and was just the second time, this year that a Bear logged 10 or more assists. Cobbs shot 5-for-10 from the field and sank two of his four three-point attempts. Senior F Harper Kamp put together his 40th career double-digit game; his second in a row as he posted 14 points and six rebounds. Senior G Jorge Gutierrez was consistent, as usual, with 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting to go with six assists and a steal. The Bears posted a 59.6-percent shooting percentage and led the Utes by 17 points at halftime, 32-15. Cal held Utah to a 34.7-percent shooting night and was the beneficiary of 18 turnovers. The Bears out-rebounded the Utes, 32-22, and had a 24-6 edge in assists to move their record to 13-0 in home games, this season, and extend their overall home winning streak to 16. Utah G Josh Watkins had team-high honors for the Utes with 15 points but had five turnovers on the other side of the ball. The meeting was the first between head coach Mike Montgomery and Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak, a former Montana standout under Montgomery in the early 1980's.

HANDS OF STEAL: Senior G Jorge Gutierrez leads the Bears in steals, this season, with 24, and ranks in the top 10 in the Pac-12 with 1.3 steals per game. He entered the season with 109 career steals. On Jan. 5, he collected two steals against Oregon State to push his career total to 129 and moved into a 10th-place tie with Keith Smith (1987-90). He now has 133 and is tied with Gene Ransom (1976-78) for sixth place.

1,000-POINT CLUB: Senior G Jorge Gutierrez became Cal's 40th player to reach the 1,000-point plateau on his second field goal against Oregon State on Jan. 5, 2012. He completed that game with a season-high matching 26 points to lead all scorers. He now has 1,061 career points to rank 32nd, all-time, among Golden Bears. Gutierrez played with each of the last three Cal players to score 1,000 career points; Theo Robertson (1,315), Patrick Christopher (1,700), and the Bears' all-time scoring leader Jerome Randle (1,835).
