STANFORD, Calif. - California took a one run fifth inning and made it last for a 1-0 win over Stanford at Smith Family Stadium Saturday afternoon in the first game of a double-header versus the Cardinal in Pac-10 play.

Junior second baseman Jessica Pamanian scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth inning to hand California (34-6, 2-3 Pac-10) the 1-0 lead in the first of two games Saturday. Junior pitcher Kelly Anderson picked up the win for the Bears, going the full seven innings while allowing only four hits and tallying four strikeouts.

Stanford (30-9, 3-2 Pac-10) was led by senior Jessica Allister with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. Senior Dana Sorensen (18-5) took the loss for the Cardinal allowing just one run on two hits with six strikeouts.

The two teams face each other again immediately following this match-up to complete the double-header.
