(SAN FRANCISCO) - Cal head coach Jeff Tedford, along with preseason All-Americans Mychal Kendricks and Mitchell Schwartz, met the local media during the annual Bay Area College Football Media Day on Monday. The event was hosted by the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl at Hotel Nikko.

The activities began with a press conference and introductory comments from the bowl's executive director Gary Cavalli and Mike Billeci, the executive vice president and regional president for Wells Fargo Bank's Bay Area region.

Stanford head coach David Shaw was the first head coach to speak at podium, and was followed by San Jose State head coach Mike MacIntyre and Tedford.

"This time of year the body chemistry and the body clock ticks in a little bit," Tedford said early on in his comments. "On Friday when our football players report, it's the best day of the year for me."

"Last year, we did not meet our standard or our expectations by any means," Tedford later added. "But that was a wake-up call, and our kids are very focused to make sure we do what we need to do, with the commitment and the teamwork, all of the work that we need to do through camp and into the season."

Following the conclusion of Tedford's comments, each of the head coaches and all six players from the three schools in attendance made themselves available for interviews over the next hour at tables located throughout the Monterey Room. Kendricks and Schwartz were joined by their Stanford counterparts Andrew Luck and Shayne Skov, as well as Vince Buhagiar and Andres Vargas of San Jose State.

Following the press conference, the players and coaches proceeded to the luncheon portion of the event. Master of ceremonies Brian Murphy, co-host of the KNBR morning radio show "Murph and Mac," interviewed Tedford about the upcoming season. Comcast SportsNet's Kate Longworth then brought Kendricks to the podium for an entertaining question and answer session.

Murphy also interviewed Luck, MacIntyre and Shaw. SJSU radio analyst Kevin Richardson asked questions of Vargas.

The event brought to a close a series of sessions for Tedford and Shaw, both of whom participated in Pac-12 media events in Los Angeles, New York and Bristol last week.
