Senior Nito Simonsen leads a contingent eight Cal oarsmen that are scheduled to compete at the 2001 FISA World Rowing Championships August 19-26 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Six current athletes and two alumni will represent four countries in six events. Simonsen will stroke the Norwegian quad, juniors Filip Filipic and Mladen Stegic will team with sophomore Ivan Smiljanic in the Yugoslavian coxless four, sophomore Joseph Manion will cox the U.S. coxed pair and sophomore Padraic Hussey will row the Irish single. Luke Walton ('01) is slated for the bow seat of the U.S. eight and Djordje Visacki ('99) will row in the Yugoslavian coxless pair.
