Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb
"I thought it was exactly like we expected it to be. This team is a terrific defensive team. We knew they were going to want to make us play slow and have it be a half court grinder. We kind of played right into that in the first half, but we were happy to have a lead. I thought in the second half, we tried to play a little bit more Cal basketball. We got out and pressured them, got out in transition, and really pounded it into the post. I was really proud of how our players responded. The team is so coachable. I can give them a message, whether I deliver it soft and kindly or whether I get on them, and they really run with that message. Today it was Gen and Gray finishing in the post in the second half. Boyd and Eliza pushing the ball. I thought we did what we needed to do. We are very happy to get this road sweep. This is not an easy trip. I am happy to come home with two wins."
"We are trying to be one of the elite teams in the country and in this conference and you can't do that unless you are able to win on the road. These are not easy places to play. Of the rest of the conference, we and Stanford are the first teams to make this trip. The rest of the teams in the conference are going to learn this is not an easy trip. I thought with the extra day, our players stayed tough. They are ready to go home, for sure, but they stayed focused on the goal. We learned a lot about ourselves. We can win in a number of different ways. This just gives us confidence coming back to Haas. We hope our fans will come out and see us play Thursday night."
"I am so proud of them for different reasons. Brittany has made leaps and bounds improvements in the last couple of weeks just in terms of being able to bounce back from a negative play and be able to stay in a stance defensively. We know what she gives us. She can make passes no one else can make. She's a high-octane kid who can get us going. What she has done a great job of is trying to minimize mistakes and be a leader for us. And I thought we saw some maturity today."
"With Layshia, even though we have played so many people and are so versatile, we have been asking her to step up and be that leader from the guard spot and make big shots. So I think coming off Colorado, she had a great level of confidence. Those two in the back court really helps a lot."
