Recap |  Final Stats

Head Coach Joanne Boyle

"Obviously not a great game for us, did not do the little things. You know the big thing for us is that we have to be able to make baskets, we shot 28% it's not like we're not getting looks. A lot of credit goes to Stanford, their down their big one of their best, if not their best player. They found a way and that's what great teams do and they did that. We didn't help ourselves on the offensive side of the floor. We tried to pressure as much as we could and not give things easy. But good players step up and they got some good touches. We tried to pressure them and disturb their flow. I do think us pressing helped disrupt their flow but when push came to shove they went to their two bigs."

On the upcoming up Pac-10 Tournament

"You know we got to do something in it so we can get to NCAA's. It is what it is at this point, there's no sugar coating it, there's not kinda pretending of taking one game at a time, It's ASU and done or ASU and move on."

On her seniors "It's funny your sitting here and thinking about the game and about Lexi leaving and you know it's hard with lex, Lauren and Natasha and they have been here for so long and have done so much and you want playing one of their last games, for it to be different for them. It doesn't mean it's over but it's something about the basketb all, the gym and them and with them this program was built in that gym with them, so it's hard but as a coach you have to keep in mind that sometimes it's just not meant to be you know, it doesn't define them cause they were working hard, we were not working smart on the offensive end. I think we got frustrated and we got so slow and so methodical and nothing came easy so we just felt like our feet were in mud even more on the offensive end of the floor. It's just feeling of where's the flow? And there's not flow. And I think for the kids it's like when are we going to get a break? But people make their own breaks you know and we just didn't do it."

Senior Guard Alexis Grey-Lawson

"We just got to get better at some things. Obviously rebounding is big for us and me having one rebound is unacceptable, regardless if their 6'4'' or not. But it plays a big part when we are not together as a team and I think the desire, heart and passion was there but to beat great times you got to bring a little more than that. You need to bring a little bit more pose, more control and running through our plays and today I don't think we did that."

"I don't think people give enough credit to my teammates. My teammates make me the way I am, my coaches make me the way I am. I don't think Coach Boyle gets enough credit for helping raise us. She has made me the woman I am and I am very appreciative of that. It was definitely something to take in when everyone including Stanford fans stood up for me"

On looking ahead to the Pac-10 Tourney

"Coach Boyle said we never have been in this situation so for us as I said to the team downstairs, the Pac-10 tournament is completely different atmosphere than when you play during regular games when you visit them and they visit you. It's on a neutral floor, except for USC, and everyone brings their A-game, because no body is trying to lose in the first round. For us, I feel that if we play hard and execute, great things happen."

On the rivalry with Stanford

"Tara came up to me at the end of the game and she always has great words to say to me and told me how she is thankful that I am leaving but she definitely just wished me the best of luck for the upcoming things to come for me and my teammates. And then of course I have my USA teammates that are over there and I am good friends with most of them and all of them were just saying congratulations and good luck with the rest of the way."

Freshman DeNesha Stallworth

"It was a little physical inside but I feel that I missed some easy looks and that's because I didn't go up strong which is not excuse."

"I feel that our seniors have stepped up and helping us out mentally and I feel that all us freshman have been out there mentally but we just have to get a little bit stronger. We have grown from the beginning of the season and will continue to grow as we continue."
