Columbus, Ga. - No. 3 California's unbeaten streak of 15 to start the season was snapped today against No. 12 LSU in the final game of pool play at the NFCA Classic. The Tigers beat the Bears 6-1, dropping Cal from contention in the Gold Championship.

LSU did what few, if any, teams have done this year - get to Kelly Anderson. The Tigers put two runs up in the first inning behind three singles. Anderson gave up a solo home run in the third and was pulled midway through the fourth after putting two more runners on.

Kristina Thorson worked through the jam, with two runs across and charged to Anderson. Thorson also gave up a solo home run in the fifth inning.

All Cal could muster was a run in the sixth, when Kaleo Eldredge doubled home Lindsay James. LSU's Kristen Schmidt pitched a complete game to improve her record to 8-2, while Anderson fell to 9-1.

This was the second time Anderson and Schmidt had hooked up. Cal beat LSU, 5-1, at the UNLV Tournament earlier this month.

With the loss, Cal moves into the Silver Championship bracket. It takes on Nebraska this evening with hopes of making it to the Silver Championship Game on Sunday.
