A LOOK AT THE GOLDEN BEARS
California (3-0) faces No. 16 Colorado Saturday, Nov. 29 at 8:15 p.m. MT (7:15 p.m. PT) in the championship game of the Coors Classic in Boulder, Colo. The Golden Bears advanced to the title game by recording a 66-47 triumph over Lehigh in the opening round of the Colorado-hosted tournament. The victory over the Mountain Hawks evened the Bearsˇ? all-time record against the Patriot League at 1-1. Colorado (4-1) defeated Idaho State, 95-35, in the other first-round game.

Cal assistant coach Barb Smith was an assistant coach at Colorado for nine seasons from 1988-97.

Before returning to Berkeley on Tuesday, Cal travels to No. 5 Texas Tech on Monday, Dec. 1 for a game at 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. PT).

Three games into the season, Cal has already posted several noteworthy accomplishments:

- First time since the 1986-87 season that the Bears have defeated three straight teams by at least 19 points and only the fourth time overall in school history (also in the 1977-78 and 1981-82 seasons).

- Posted a 31-point season-opening win over South Carolina State, its second-biggest season-opening win (biggest was a 37-point win over Cal Poly in 1997-98)

- Set the Cal womenˇ?s Haas Pavilion points record with a 90-67 win over San Jose State, the Bears first 90-point effort since the aforementioned Cal Poly game

- Posted 28 steals against South Carolina State, one shy of the 1995 school record set vs. Arizona State.

- Has forced two opponents into 30 or more turnovers

- Team scoring average is at 78.0 ppg after averaging 57.6 ppg a year ago, while the Bears are holding opponents to 53.7 ppg, compared to 64.2 ppg last year

- Leigh Gregory tied the Cal free throw percentage record with her 10-of-10 effort vs. San Jose State.

- Nihan Anaz has posted double-figure points in all three games and leads Cal at 15.3 ppg after pacing the club at 10.1 ppg in 2002-03.
