Cal lost to San Diego State, 2-0, on Sept. 24 in Berkeley.

San Diego State took a 3-0 lead, the last on an 88th-minute penalty kick, before Cal senior midfielder Nick Hatzke scored the Bears' lone goal on an 89th-minute penalty kick.

The Aztecs outshot Cal, 9-4, in the first half, though Bears junior midfielder Andrew Jacobson hit the San Diego State crossbar with a shot in the 17th minute.

Aztecs freshman defender Nick Cardenas scored the game's first goal, heading in a cross past Cal junior goalkeeper Justin Myers in the 26th minute.

Cal trailed, 1-0, at halftime.

The Bears outshot the Aztecs, 11-5, in the second stanza, as they tried to equalize.

But San Diego State junior midfielder Kraig Chiles scored the first of his two goals a few minutes into the final period, knocking in a 25-yard free kick in the 51st minute. In the 88th minute, Chiles converted a penalty kick after a foul on sophomore forward Nick Collins in the San Diego State box.

Twenty three seconds later, Cal was awarded its own penalty kick after the Aztecs were whistled for a handball in the Bears' box. Hatzke scored his third goal of the season for the Bears.

Myers had five saves, and senior teammate Mike Oseguera had no saves over the last 3:44 of the game.

SDSU goalkeeper Tally Hall made four saves.

Cal continues Pac-10 action when it takes on UCLA at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Los Angeles.
