Nov. 28, 2007
Berkeley - Sixteen U.S. Olympians and numerous 2008 Olympic hopefuls will compete in Atlanta this weekend in the last national U.S. swimming event prior to the 2008 Olympic Team Trials. For the first time ever the event will be available via live webcast at the newly-launched, Swimnetwork.com. All races during the finals sessions will begin at 6 p.m. ET and will be webcast from Thursday, Nov. 28 to Saturday, Dec. 1.
The 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships will not only serve to select the U.S. short course national champions for 2007, but will also serve as the selection meet for the 2008 FINA Short Course World Championships. The World Championships will take place in Manchester, England, next spring. More than 1,000 swimmers are expected to compete in Atlanta.
Swimnetwork.com is a partnership between USA Swimming, and Sportnet (www.sportnet.com), a Wasserman Media Group company. While this initial event will be webcast on Swimnetwork.com, the site is being developed to become a comprehensive online destination for the sport of swimming and its global community. The full site is expected to debut in early 2008.
