Graham Ackerman Named to Academic All-District Team

Berkeley, CA - Senior Graham Ackerman was named to the 2005 Academic All-District VIII Men's At-Large Team, as announced by ESPN the Magazine. Ackerman, a double major in political science and European development, carries a 3.6 GPA.

By achieving first team All-District status, Ackerman is now eligible to receive All-American recognition. District-VIII is compromised of universities from nine western states, along with British Columbia.

The All-District award was not the only academic honor which Ackerman received. Along with winning a Golden Bear Individual Award for having the highest cumulative GPA on the men's gymnastics team, the Seattle, Wash., native received the Jake Gimbel award, given to a graduating male student-athlete for successful integration of academic and athletic pursuits.

Ackerman was also given the Pac-10 Medal, which is awarded annually at each Pac-10 institution to the university's outstanding senior male for the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

Ackerman is a three-time national champion (floor exercise in 2004 and 2005, vault in 2004) and seven-time All-American.
