*DeVon Hardin matched his career high with 14 rebounds. He also grabbed 14 boards in the opener last Wednesday vs. Southern Miss and had 14 against Northeastern last season.

*Sophomore walk-on guard David Liss earned the first start of his career, subbing for an injured Eric Vierneisel (ankle). He responded with eight points (the first points of his career) and four assists in 37 minutes. As a freshman in 2006-07, Liss saw action in 12 games for a total of 18 minutes.

*With two blocks, DeVon Hardin now has 101 for his career -- fourth best in school history.

*Senior forward Eric Vierneisel did not play due to a sprained right ankle suffered in practice over the weekend. Head coach Ben Braun said he is questionable to Saturday's game vs. San Diego State.

*Cal used only six scholarship players during the game.
