Live Scoring: Team Leader Board | Player Leader Board | Tuesday's Round 2 Tee Times

(WINDERMERE, FL) - Cal is in fifth place and one of eight teams in a pack chasing leader Texas (278, -10) and second-place North Florida (287, -1) following the conclusion of the first round Sunday at the Isleworth Collegiate Challenge. The Bears' five-over par team score of 293 also trails Stanford and Alabama, who are in a tie for third place after firing three-over par scores of 291 two shots better than Cal.

"We're right in the middle of a great group of teams," head coach Steve Desimone said.

Brandon Hagy (70, -2) led Cal's effort a two-under par 70 and is five shots off the pace of individual leader Jordan Spieth of Texas, who fired a seven-under par 65. Hagy ended up at his final score despite a round that went every which way as he had two eagles, four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey.

Michael Kim (71, -1) is in 10th place by himself one shot behind Hagy, with a round that included four birdies and three bogeys.

Others competing for the Bears include Joël Stalter (T36th, 75, +3), Max Homa (T51st, 77) and Pace Johnson (T56th, 78). Stalter had two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey. Homa never really got untracked as he was six-over par through 13 holes with four bogeys and a double, before brining it home in one-under over the final five holes including his only birdie of the day on the par-five seventh. Johnson started his round with a double and triple bogey, and was eight-over par through 11 holes but played two-under over his final seven holes with a pair of birdies and five pars.

"We played a solid round today," Desimone said. "It was even more impressive given that Max [Homa] and Pace [Johnson] struggled, but this is a team and the rest of the guys were able to pick those two up."

"This tournament is a great challenge and opportunity for us," Desimone added. "If you want great college and amateur golf, you've got all you need right here at Isleworth."

Action at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational being co-hosted by UCF and Texas Tech continues Monday with the second of three scheduled rounds slated to be played at the par-72, 7,544-yard Isleworth Golf & Country Club. The first tee time for both Monday and Tuesday's third and final round is scheduled for 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT.
