The Cal women's tennis team travels to Fresno today for their first team action of the year. Match-play begins at 8:00 am on Friday, September 26 and concludes with the singles and doubles finals starting at 8:00 am on the 28th. In doubles competition Cal will pair up the following competitors: Kristen Case and Rio B. de Rosario, Nicole Havlicek and Jody Scheldt, and Catherine Lynch and Jessica Shu. The team of Havlicek and Scheldt, as well as, Lynch and Shu, were granted byes through the first round and are seeded No. 3 and No. 2, respectively.

In singles competition, the Bears boast the No. 1, 3, and 4 seeds in the tournament. Lynch enters competition as the number one seed after a break through season in 2003, making it all the way to the NCAA Sweet 16. Last year's Team MVP, Scheldt, holds the No. 3 seed, after posting a 30-7 singles record during the 2002-2003 and winning the invitational crown at the Pac-10 championships. Havlicek will be seeded No. 4 this weekend despite placing second on the team last season in victories with 34.

Other Bears in singles competition are del Rosario, Shu, and Case.
