BERKELEY - California junior guard Jorge Gutierrez was recently named to the USBWA All-District team, as announced by the organization. Earlier in the week, junior forward Harper Kamp was selected to the NABC All-District second team.

Gutierrez, who made the All-Pac-10 first team and the conference's all-defensive team, has provided the spark for the Bears all season. He has reached double figures in scoring in 23 of the 31 games this season, including a streak of 10 in a row at one point. In Cal's overtime victory over UCLA on Feb. 20, Gutierrez totaled a career-best 34 points, tallying nine of those 34 points in the overtime period. He is sporting 50 steals on the season, one shy of cracking the school's single-season list. Gutierrez and Kamp co-lead the team in scoring at 14.3 ppg.

Kamp, a member of the All-Pac-10 second team, has been Cal's steady presence in the front court all season. After missing the 2009-10 campaign with a knee injury, Kamp has been a key component to the Bear's success in 2010-11. He has six 20-point outings to his credit. He also posted a career-best 33 points in the triple-overtime thriller against Arizona on Feb. 5, part of his second career double-double (personal-best 10 rebounds). Kamp has also helped remarkably in the rebounding department, currently second on the team at 5.6 rpg. He has also been sound from the charity stripe, boasting a season percentage of 81.1 (120-148) that ranks seventh in the Pac-10.

The Golden Bears finished the regular season tied for fourth in the Pac-10 after sporting a conference record of 10-8 (17-14 overall). Cal fell to USC in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Tournament last Thursday, 70-56.
